Industrial Energy Manager

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to serve as TRIUMF’s Industrial Energy Manager for a 2 year term. You will work collaboratively with our Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Scientific teams on the energy management program to improve the energy efficiency of facility operations and to fulfill the strategic objectives outlined in the Energy Management Plan. Your key responsibility will be the development of strategic energy management initiatives and supporting TRIUMF’s management team in the delivery of projects. Other responsibilities will include: 

  • Acting as team lead for the energy project team 

  • Defining, prioritizing, and managing project opportunities for energy management 

  • Being a local source of technical and market intelligence 

  • Performing baseline monitoring, performance auditing, and reporting 

  • Developing communications, outreach, and promotion for the energy management program   

You will also be required to successfully complete the TRIUMF in-house radiation safety training course and be designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker.  

As our ideal candidate, you have demonstrated strong people engagement and business planning skills, are technically proficient and work well with all levels within the organization. You are also comfortable with facilitating interdepartmental brainstorming and preparing effective reports as well make presentations to executives, both internally and externally to TRIUMF.  Your other minimum qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, and certification as either a Registered Professional Engineer or Registered Engineering Technologist  

  • Familiarity and knowledge of energy efficient technologies 

  • A demonstrated interest and enthusiasm related to energy efficiency 

  • Experience and ability in writing detailed and effective reports, and the capability to perform financial analyses 

  • Project management experience of small capital projects, and demonstrated leadership experience 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with experience in common computer software such as the Microsoft suite of products 

  • A minimum of 6-8 years engineering experience, with at least 5 years of specific experience in energy management leadership, industrial process and the operation, maintenance, and management of electrical and lighting systems or mechanical systems 

The possession of the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation through the Association of Energy Engineers is considered a definitive asset.
