The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for one full-time, tenure stream faculty position in the area of Robotics at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, starting July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

Candidates must have a PhD in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline, with a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates will have an established international reputation in fundamentals or systems or applications of robotics. The candidate is expected to sustain and lead outstanding, innovative, and independent research and to maintain a competitive, externally funded, and internationally leading research program. We are seeking candidates whose research and teaching complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths in the area of Robotics. It is preferred that candidates have an undergraduate degree in engineering and be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer.

The successful candidate will be involved in undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and departmental service.

The successful candidate must provide evidence of exceptional excellence in research through an established international reputation, as demonstrated by leadership in the academic community, editorships, research output, distinguished awards and accolades, as well as through sustained, high impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, the submitted research statement, strong letters of reference from referees of high international standing, and noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline.

Excellence in teaching should be demonstrated by a strong statement of teaching philosophy, sample course syllabi, excellent teaching evaluations, strong endorsements from referees, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
