Vice President, Systems Engineering

PanGeo Subsea Inc is a privately held Canadian company developing disruptive 3D acoustic imaging technology with applications in the oil and gas sector, the offshore renewable energy sector as well as the defence industry.  The corporate headquarters is in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, with an operations office in Aberdeen, Scotland. PanGeo is seeking an experienced candidate to assume the position of Vice President, Systems Engineering for its corporate headquarters in St. John’s.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s engineering product development activities and, as a member of the senior executive team, participate in the development and execution of the overall corporate objectives and product roadmap.

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, Systems Engineering will be responsible for managing, building and growing a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technologists, and will act as an extension of the senior leadership team.  He/she will contribute to, shaping the corporate strategy as well as guiding the future growth and advancement of the company by assisting in the development and execution of PanGeo’s product and technology roadmap. The Vice President Systems Engineering will ensure the delivery of robust/commercial products for use in the offshore industry, and will manage the design, development, build and qualification of products from ideation to commercialization. Further, the role will ensure the field operations group are provided with appropriate equipment needed to support ongoing offshore campaigns in a timely manner.    

As the ideal candidate, you have senior leadership experience at the executive level within a technologically advanced manufacturing and product development environment. Along with a professional engineering designation preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering, you have relevant experience managing small to medium-sized inter-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical and software) through the development of project and products for use in underwater and/or harsh environments. Experience with underwater acoustics, signal processing, software design and development, artificial intelligence and automation will be considered strong assets. You are familiar with implementing and using sound systems engineering and project management principles, including but not limited to, requirements for lifecycle management, scope definition, configuration management, design management, verification and validation. You also possess strong financial acumen, and the ability to define and manage detailed project schedules and program budgets. Further, you must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, strong interpersonal skills and be able to work interdepartmentally.
