The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in the area of Solid Mechanics (Position #24169) with a start date of July 1, 2019.

The successful candidate:

  1. Must hold undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering;
  2. Must be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba;
  3. Will be expected to develop and teach mechanical engineering related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
  4. Will be expected to establish an externally funded and sustainable research program; and
  5. Must possess excellent communication and leadership skills.

We are particularly interested in candidates who complement existing expertise in the department, and who have a demonstrated record of research and publications in analytical non-linear mechanics with general applied mechanics application and preferred application to ground vehicle dynamics or nano-structures.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is a research intensive department that is comprised of 30 academic staff, 15 support staff and over 30 postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars and adjunct professors. It offers an accredited undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, with over 500 students. The Department has a strong graduate teaching and research program with over 120 graduate students in its PhD, MSc and MEng programs.
