Senior Engineer

<p>The Senior Engineer provides technical assurance to Technical Safety BC by engaging with industry partners, developing engineering outreach opportunities, centralizing engineering knowledge to create a centre of knowledge excellence, and engineering career mentoring to ensure a strong technical foundation is developed in engineering services.</p> <p>&nbsp;They are the engineering champion and an organization collaborator who pursues engineering service opportunities amongst engineering, Technical Safety BC, and our stakeholders.</p> <p><strong>Principal Accountabilities: </strong></p> <ol> <li>Provide guidance to the team and stakeholders on mechanical design and failure analysis engineering activities by providing professional assessments and expert testimonies.</li> <li>In collaboration with the Leader, Engineering; establish reliability engineering principles and tools to assess the consequences and risks associated with potentially catastrophic events.</li> <li>Engineering leadership and mentorship accountability and capabilities, with the ability to work in a matrix organization and development of new standards, programs, tools, and policies.</li> <li>Effective interpretation to risk-based inspection methods, and insight to human factors engineering as it applies to reviewing safety risks, engineering designs, and owner/user facility operations.</li> <li>Independently evaluate safety and liability risks at various client sites and qualitatively describe those risks using detailed reporting methods.</li> <li>In collaboration with Leader, Engineering to develop an engineering career development program including mentoring, knowledge succession, and diverse skill development.</li> <li>In collaboration with the Leader, Engineering &ndash; Develop, support, and coach Organization Quality Management (OQM) Guidelines by representing Technical Safety BC as branch OQM Lead and conduct internal OQM auditing.</li> <li>Coach junior engineers, EIT&rsquo;s, and staff on EGBC OQM practice guidelines and career development opportunities.</li> </ol> <p><strong>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Experience</strong><strong>: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Post-secondary degree in engineering</li> <li>Plus</li> <li>Min. 7 years applicable experience;</li> <li>Supplemental registrations with international organizations would be considered as assets</li> <li>Registered Professional Engineer of British Columbia, or Canadian jurisdiction with the ability to register in British Columbia.</li> <li>Must have experience identifying deficiencies at client facilities and communicate complex technical recommendations to meaningful recommendations.</li> <li>Ability to work independently and within a diverse makeup of field operations, engineers, managers, business unit staff, managers and directors.</li> <li>Excellent record of accomplishment in collaborating and/or coordinating multi-discipline teams.</li> <li>Strong familiarity with consequence modeling and quantified risk assessment.</li> <li>Prior work experience in an industrial facility, combined with engineering design and facility modification experience (MOC and/or brownfield projects) would be considered an asset.</li> <li>Prior facilitation and coordination experience in defect elimination, hazard identification, or root cause analysis</li> <li>Valid BC driver&rsquo;s license and a clear driving abstract methodologies would be an asset.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p>
