PE Tech (formerly Automata Industrial Consulting and SIMTO Industrial Automation) is a British Columbia based industrial consulting company primarily operating in the pulp and paper and wood fiber industries. We are looking for a Senior Level Mechanical Engineer with the experience to manage multi-discipline projects, mentor junior engineers, and participate in our collaborative culture where we pride ourselves on providing cutting edge engineering solutions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have a self starter mentality and be willing to take ownership of complex engineering problems.
  • Must have experience leading project teams in designing a major engineering project and coordinating special planning, economic, and engineering studies.
  • Project design requires a wide range of technical experience including pumps, compressors, process piping, material handling, heat pumps, dryers, dewatering, etc.
  • Must have project management experience.
  • Knowledge of pulp and paper processes is highly valuable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with 3D modeling (preferably AutoCAD 3D or Revit).
  • Familiar with North American industry design codes (such as ASME and NFPA).
  • Technical competency and a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Competent technical writer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or a technical diploma in mechanical engineering.
  • 10-15 years of relevant mechanical experience in industrial engineering, preferably in the pulp and paper sector.
  • 5+ years project management experience.
  • Certification as an AScT or P.Eng within the province of British Columbia (or currently eligible to apply).
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientist BC.

Additional Information

  • Full-time role.
  • Must be able to commute to office in Nanaimo, BC or be willing to relocate.
  • Travel may be required up to 10% of total time. Mostly within BC and AB but may include all of Canada and US.
