Senior Product Engineer/Technologist

Join a world leading instrumentation company located in Kingston, Ontario specializing in geotechnical and civil applications.  Our client designs, manufactures, sells, installs, and supports their precision, high quality products across the globe.  Our client has a demonstrated ability to attract and work with their customers to assist them in solving problems with quality products, proven experience, and extensive expertise.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Product Engineer or Technologist conceives, designs, and develops geotechnical devices through engineering analysis, prototyping, risk assessment and appropriate qualification testing.  Providing advice and direction to the development, design, training, support, and technical service for the suite of products, both in office and in the field.

KEY COMPETENCIES

 A practical hands-on instrumentation design professional with experience in low voltage circuit board design and construction. A skilled tinkerer who enjoys experimenting with and improving electronic and electromechanical devices.

 Familiarity with or knowledge of related computer programming, telecommunications, electronics, and instrumentation (or related experience). 

 Equipped with a thorough understanding of engineering principles, electronic devices, and their principles as well as experience with drafting software (schematics, prototypes and 3D renderings).  

 Possesses a sound knowledge of electronic devices and their properties and has demonstrated excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

 Possesses a practical knowledge of mechanical and electronic design and design practices and demonstrated analytical and statistical aptitude. 

 Adept at managing and growing client relationships.   

 A collaborative, respectful professional with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, self-motivated, customer-focused, flexible, and adaptable.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:   

 A post-secondary degree in electronics/electrical Engineering or Technology (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and a demonstrated commitment to professional development. 

 6+ years’ experience in instrumentation or mechatronics environments or related field.

 Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships working with customers, scientific, and production staff.

 The ability to foster and maintain strong internal and external relationships.

 Excellent oral and written communication including report writing and presentations.
