With its five departments in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering, and, Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty is helping lead Canada’s entrepreneurial revolution and is in the midst of a transformative period. With a new Engineering capital build on the horizon and a bold academic plan that includes increased enrolment of undergraduate, graduate and international students while embarking on curricular changes and enhanced experiential education opportunities, UNB is looking to its next Dean to elevate and continue growing the Faculty of Engineering.  

As Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, you will champion academic and research excellence, working with faculty and colleagues across the University and its two campuses to drive and promote innovation, creativity, collaboration, risk-taking, discovery, and an exceptional student experience. Reporting to the Vice President Academic and working closely with the President and Vice-Chancellor, decanal colleagues and other members of the University’s senior management team, you will be a champion of the UNB Toward 2030 Strategic Plan and the University’s drive to turn ideas into action.

As the ideal candidate, you are an established and respected engineering leader. You are a strategic thinker with the ability to identify, define and deliver on short and long-term goals. You have exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong record of building relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, industry partners, donors, community and government leaders. You will bring to the Faculty your creative ideas and a demonstrated commitment to increasing diversity in Engineering. Your peers and staff describe you as balanced, energetic, authentic, highly collaborative, transparent, engaging, supportive, trusted, and team oriented. You have demonstrated success as a leader in accreditation, fundraising, and alumni engagement, as well as increasing external research grants and industrial collaborations. You are a skilled communicator who encourages, inspires and mentors individuals and teams to achieve their full potential. You have a strong sense of personal and professional ethics and practise integrity in all that you do. Commitment to and eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in New Brunswick or other Canadian province or territory is required.
