To help us further this mission, we are pleased to invite applications for the exciting opportunity of Director, Traffic Management. The Director will be part of a dynamic senior leadership team in the business unit and lead a division of over 50 traffic management employees, providing exceptional service to our residents, and effective collaboration with internal clients.  The successful candidate will lead the Municipal strategies and plans that impact upon Traffic Management and Right of Way, and act as the Deputy Traffic Authority for the Municipality.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Transportation & Public Works, the Director, Traffic Management is accountable for providing the strategic leadership and operational direction to the Traffic Management Division. This group includes road safety; traffic operations; streetlight/traffic signal maintenance; traffic sign and pavement marking maintenance; and right of way services. The Director will have a rewarding professional opportunity to influence significant organization change around key strategic deliverables such as the Transportation Capital Asset Renewal, Strategic Road Safety Plan, Cogswell Redevelopment Program, and the Active Transportation Network Priorities Plan.

The ideal candidate is a strong and dynamic people leader who has experience leading varied teams through change, while continuing to deliver on the high standards of service and performance.  The ideal candidate will possess approximately 10 years’ related experience preferably in civil engineering and traffic operations and possess a minimum of 5 years’ people leadership experience providing coaching and direction supporting teams through transformational initiatives.  You must be a registered Professional Engineer with Engineers Nova Scotia or be eligible for registration.

You are experienced in budget management and have demonstrated success managing an efficient and highly effective operation. Collaborative and visionary, you will demonstrate superior communication skills and a proven ability to clearly articulate an operational strategy.  You value and excel in providing exceptional service and support to both internal and external clients and have a commitment to lead and act with the highest level of professionalism, integrity and ethics, and instill these values in your team.

WORK STATUS:    Permanent, Non-union

HOURS OF WORK:    35 hours per week, Mon-Fri 8:30AM-4:30PM

SALARY:    EM4 Level, $115,400-$155,600, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

WORK LOCATION:    Eric Spicer Building, 21 Mt. Hope Ave, Dartmouth, NS. Work location can be changed according to operational requirements.
