Loss Prevention Consultant Engineer I

Responsibilities:

The Loss Prevention Consultant assists policyholders in physically protecting their large industrial and commercial properties against fire, explosion, earthquake, collapse, windstorm, mechanical and electrical breakdown, and many other hazards. He or she works with clients to develop sound loss prevention solutions to manage any exposures and, once the solution is agreed, helps manage the project through to completion. To stay abreast of new developments, the Loss Prevention Consultant is provided with frequent technical training that involves independent and classroom study. Candidates can expect constant challenge, professional growth, and personal responsibility.

 

  • Conduct on site loss prevention evaluations that identify all reasonably foreseeable physical and human element exposures.
  • Accurately quantify exposures at client locations to assure that the Account Team places an appropriate level of attention on the exposure.
  • Obtain local client understanding and agreement on the hazards/exposures discovered and their potential business impact.
  • Assist with effectively managing change at client locations.
  • Achieve practical, effective on-site risk improvement at client locations.
  • Develop ability to illustrate the value-added differential of FM Global engineering capabilities.
  • Accurately communicate the risk and associated data.

Qualifications:

The candidate can use current technology including software products to analyze and document engineering recommendations and services. Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are a must. The individual should be able to work independently from a home office and should expect to travel frequently for periods up to one week. The candidate must live within the greater Vancouver area, have a valid driver’s license and be allowed to travel to the United States.

Education

Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or chemical, and be EIT eligible.

Experience

Candidate should have 0 to 2 years of experience in engineering, preferably within the Pulp & Paper industries or high challenge industries. Experience in consulting engineering, fire protection or insurance would be an asset.
