Redevelopment of the QEII Health Sciences Centre is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rethink and rebuild the way our healthcare is delivered. It is an extensive, multi-site, multi-year program that is defining how Nova Scotia will meet the healthcare needs of its citizens for the next 50 years.  Additionally, to address aging infrastructure and the need for expanded and more modern services, Cape Breton’s health system will be reshaped and revitalized.  Project plans include major expansions and additions to hospitals and health services in communities across the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

Nova Scotia Healthcare Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Director, Project Delivery and Construction who will be responsible for providing oversight and management of construction activities for the organization. This will include the development of a strategic plan and building a complete project plan, as well as establishing and overseeing a capable Project Management Office. Reporting to the chief executive of Nova Scotia Healthcare Infrastructure, the successful candidate will manage relationships and negotiations with contractors and ensure the construction schedule, land negotiations, and urban planning requirements are initiated on time and in coordination with other construction projects underway within the organization. Along with overseeing risk assessments, the Senior Director will provide procurement advice, and move projects from concept to design through to construction.

As the ideal candidate, you have a post-secondary degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant discipline, along with ten plus years of progressive experience in a leadership role in construction operations or project management, preferably with a good understanding of P3 and healthcare or infrastructure projects.  You can effectively manage diverse teams of project consultants, specialists and contractors and develop high performance project teams across multiple locations.  You have a proven track record in strategic planning, operations and budget management, project scheduling, as well as developing and implementing best practices in project management; strong knowledge of relevant legal matters, legislation, regulations, standards and codes; adept at managing through the evolving demands and priorities inherent within large, complex construction projects; proficient in developing metrics and reporting structures to effectively measure and report on project performance; can ensure communications with a wide array of stakeholders are consistent and seamless. Exceptional at managing, prioritizing, and planning, you draw upon your natural people leadership skills to work cohesively and effectively with large and diverse teams, and you can propose innovative and industry-leading solutions and recommendations for accomplishing project objectives.
