The Opportunity

The impending retirement of key leaders, business growth and technology change have created an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled technical and executive professional to take on the newly created role of VP, Sales & Innovation. The position will report to the President and work closely with all the owners and staff of Olympic as well as with key customers, suppliers and partners. The position will be responsible for mapping out and implementing a definitive, multi-year plan to develop and operate new lines of business and ensure exceptional sales results achieved with respect for the values and collaborative culture of the company.

Governments, industries and consumers are seeking ways to reduce carbon footprints. Replacement of natural gas with electricity as the heating source for domestic hot water systems presents a focused opportunity to contribute to a reduction in carbon footprints. One of the first new initiatives that the new VP, Sales & Innovation will be responsible for planning and executing is to position Olympic International Sales Ltd. as the go-to provider of electrically-powered domestic hot water systems in Western Canada.

Candidate Profile

The candidate for the role of VP, Sales & Innovation must be an integrative, strategic thinker with proven expertise in technical systems design, an entrepreneurial spirit and excellent management and organization design skills. Ideally, the candidate has had proven success in leading a small company or launching and running a new line of business for a larger organization. The candidate must be a professional engineer or engineering technologist who has earned substantive respect and credibility for his or her technical expertise and business acumen. It would be an asset to have completed formal training in management. Preferably, the candidate has the drive and profile to become an owner and one day lead a company. Without doubt, the candidate has a strong desire to live and work in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

The candidate must have at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience with an engineering consulting firm, manufacturing company or integrated technical solutions enterprise and a track record of knowing what structures, systems and resources must be implemented to build and sustain innovation and enduring sales success. A team player and collaborator, the candidate must have a high integrity, a commitment to technical and service excellence and a strong drive for measurable results evidenced by a successful career to date. Highly organized, with exceptional listening, problem-solving and written and verbal communication skills, the candidate must have a strong ability to realize success with integrity and respect for the interests of colleagues, clients and suppliers.
