Purchasing Manager - Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Technology

We are looking for a talented Purchasing Manager to join our team specializing in hydrogen power systems technology for our # NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.

As the Purchasing Manager for Fuel Cell & Hydrogen, this position will lead purchasing for the fuel cell system and electrolyzer products currently produced at the Mississauga, Canada site. The key responsibilities specific to this position include:

  • Responsible for ensuring on-time part delivery, part quality, and cost reduction for production and product development.

  • Manages sourcing, quality, plant liaison, and business continuity planning within a business unit, to ensure continuity of supply. Manages the purchasing within a business unit for all materials, supplies, and equipment in support of corporate purchasing operations and goals.

  • Manages end-to-end purchasing strategies and processes that capitalize on savings and risk mitigation opportunities for the business.

  • Builds strong supplier relationships and encourages a high level of supplier collaboration and delivery.

  • Solves complex matters of supplier performance.

  • Mitigates risk and promotes compliance by establishing and maintaining valued relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, finance, and program teams to meet the business needs.

  • Communicates regularly with purchasing team and business partners.

  • Identifies, plans, and implements continuous improvement opportunities within purchasing processes.

  • Actively supports the annual planning (AOP) at the site level

  • Presents purchasing issues and proposed solutions to purchasing leadership.

  • Develops, leads, and motivates staff; sets goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.

  • Work with the Corporate sourcing teams on supplier selection and ensure early supplier integration.

  • Lead and Develop a purchasing team of 3 buyers.

  • High intensity and high pace work in a growth business like environment.

  • Expected to work from Mississauga site office at least 3-4 days a week.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • University Degree or equivalent qualifications would be preferred. Engineering degree is a plus.

  • Experience with expediting parts and daily/weekly tracking of parts delivery is the most important element for this role. Experience as a buyer or some experience with Purchase Order tracking in a plant environment is a plus.

  • Proven experience in a rigorous and detail-oriented environment in manufacturing or industrial engineering.

  • Proven experience leading teams within Purchasing space

  • Significant level of relevant work experience required.
