Chief Technical Officer

Genoa is seeking its inaugural Chief Technical Officer (CTO), based in Mount Pearl, NL, who will play a pivotal role in shaping strategy as well as guiding the future and development of the firm. 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Executive team, the CTO is responsible for developing and leveraging Genoa’s technical expertise to continuously identify, develop, evaluate and plan for the delivery of high-quality products and services to its customers.  The CTO will maintain a broad and leading-edge knowledge of engineering-for-construction technology (specifically shipbuilding) and ship design strategy and will also communicate vision, goals and technical direction consistently across the organization.

Demonstrating leadership, the CTO will align employees and technical strategy with Genoa’s culture and overall strategic direction, providing support for growth and development of the team and monitoring key performance indicators to confirm established goals and objectives are being achieved.  The CTO is responsible for ensuring Genoa’s technical strategy keeps the organization on the leading edge of high-quality service delivery.  Defining Genoa’s technical service delivery, the CTO will be responsible for the development of 3D product models, manufacturing information for shipyards and the in-service support to shipyard operators.

As the ideal candidate, you have an engineering degree and experience in naval architecture and/or technical product and service delivery is considered an asset.  You have a high degree of integrity and honesty, consistently lead by example and you use a visible management style to develop a collegial culture within your team.  Your proven track record of successfully facilitating organization-wide collaboration, and effectively managing and coaching your team, has led you to achieve outstanding results in the development and delivery of technical products and services.  You bring a depth of experience leading research and innovation and product and service development in a fast-paced growth industry.  You can skillfully use extensive data and data-analytics to inform key business decisions.  You are up-to-date on customer-driven industry standards and trends and are skilled at developing and implementing long-term operational plans in the context of quickly changing technology and customer requirements.  You have experience resolving technical issues in a client-centric environment.  You have natural and superior interpersonal and communication skills and can build seamless working relationships across an organization.  Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, you possess natural confidence but are low ego and are known as a candid team player who is open-minded and patient in your approach to business.
