Serving more than 53,000 children and students in 135 schools and employing over 11,000 teachers and support staff, the Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is the largest school system in Atlantic Canada. The (HRCE) shares a geographic boundary with the Halifax Regional Municipality with schools located throughout the region serving urban, suburban and rural populations. Working in partnership with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD), the HRCE provides programming and services from pre-primary to grade 12 and strives to address current and emerging student needs. The HRCE continues to see growth and success in many areas of its operations while managing within the current fiscal reality of the province.
Now, in this time of increasing population growth and the rising need for new, revitalized and effectively maintained HRCE facilities, the HRCE is seeking its next Director of Operations Services to lead this key portfolio. As a key member of the Senior Management team reporting to the Regional Executive Director of Education, as the Director of Operations Services, you will collaborate across the organization to ensure the maintenance of safe, effective, and efficient facilities. You will provide overall leadership for the Operations Department including the areas of school transportation, maintenance, custodial, and capital planning & delivery. You will build strong working relationships with provincial partners, oversee legal contracts and lease agreements, and ensure compliance within local, provincial and federal regulatory frameworks.
