The Department of Automotive, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering invites applications, from qualified individuals, for a tenure-track or tenured position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Mechatronics Engineering, with preferred research expertise in one of the following areas: sensor and embedded systems; autonomous systems with a focus on autonomous vehicles; artificial intelligence with applications in mechatronic systems; or collaborative robotics. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on January 1, 2020 or as soon as it is filled.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in the area of Mechatronics Engineering;a strong academic background; and an established record of excellence in innovative and scholarly research leading to peer assessed publications. Candidates must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions.  In addition, candidates should possess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships  with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

The successful candidates will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.

The Department of Automotive, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (AMME) offers a stand-alone honours undergraduate degree in Mechatronics Engineering, in addition to honours undergraduate degrees in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with Energy specialization, and Manufacturing Engineering. Also offered are degrees in Engineering and Management for each of these programs. The Department offers Master’s (MASc and MEng) and PhD programs in Mechanical Engineering (with various specializations), Automotive Engineering (MASc, MEng), and a graduate program (MEng) in Engineering Management. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association.  The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the tenured and tenure track collective agreement.
