Associate Vice-President, Capital Planning & Operations

The Capital Planning and Operations department is responsible for the strategic management of the university’s land endowment, real estate development activities, capital planning and for the campus operations (facility management on both campuses and security Fredericton campus).

 

Reporting administratively to the Vice President, Finance and Administration while working closely with each of the two campus V.P.’s (Vice President, Saint John and the Vice President, Academic, Fredericton),the Associate Vice-President (AVP), Capital Planning & Operations (CPO) is responsible for the stewardship of UNB’s land endowment and physical assets and contributes to the development of the university’s overall strategic direction and plans for growth by establishing an overall vision for the CPO department. You will provide strategic leadership for the planning and design of UNB’s campuses through the development and maintenance of campus master plans and play a critical role in developing long-term plans for right sizing UNB.  You will also implement innovative approaches to ensure university facilities support UNB’s educational and research missions and create campus communities for students, faculty, staff and visitors.  The AVP will provide leadership on all real property matters and develop real estate strategies that support growth and sustainability and achieve long term value.  The AVP will be required to maintain a physical presence on both the Fredericton and Saint John campuses.

 

As the ideal candidate, you have a degree in architecture, engineering or planning and a successful track record of senior leadership experience in capital planning, real estate development and facilities/property management within a complex multi-facility environment. You have the ability to develop and communicate a vision, motivate a team and create a collaborative, innovative culture that stimulates creative thinking and encourages individual growth and development.  You have expert knowledge in all areas of design, construction and project management and can communicate technical information in a clear and practical manner.
