ReVital Polymers Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist for its Sarnia, Ontario facility. Sarnia is a family friendly city at the base of Lake Huron, with all season activities including miles of white sandy beaches, easy accessibility to major league sports teams, recreational and cultural events. The  

successful candidate will be assisting with various mechanical engineering projects. You must have a well-rounded knowledge of mechanical principles, including well-honed abilities related to mechanical design, manufacturing processes, troubleshooting, process improvements, project costing and implementation. Electrical engineering technologist experience would be considered an asset as this role will focus on multi-disciplinary engineering project management. You may also be required to take on other focus areas throughout your tenure.

Job Details:

The position requires sound knowledge of mechanical design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, computer model work, and reading of drawings. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the creation of project drawings, mechanical and electromechanical assemblies, and various procedures. They will also assist in the preparation of illustrations and technical manuals, and modification and revision of designs created to correct deficiencies and production problems. The position requires expertise with AutoCad.

 

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in an a Mechanical/Electrical engineering related field, at the Technologist level

  • Recent graduate, with 1 or more years’ experience preferred, in the manufacturing industry.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical/electrical testing methods are important assets.

  • Operate computer aided design using AutoCAD

  • Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data

  • Understand technical reports and write technical reports
  • Must have good communication and customer-support skills, and proven ability to organize and document experimental conditions and results

  • Electrical engineering technologist experience would be considered an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical principles

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft applications

  • Must be self-motivated, results orientated, and able to deliver multiple project activities in a fast-paced environment

  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines consistently

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform  mechanical testing/review in support of day-to-day operation of the manufacturing process development and/or new product or process development

  • Working in close communication with management, engineering, and production employees on a daily basis and will be expected to design, develop, test and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial processes

  • Schedule, expedite and coordinate the delivery and movement of critical material, including material transfers and inventory control

  • Apply statistical methods for improving utilization of personnel, materials and utilities

  • Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.

  • Execute sample preparation and experimental testing using internal and external facilities

  • Compose engineering reports, sample collection and compilation of data in support of process and product investigations/reviews.

  • Trouble-shooting tooling and equipment within the facility

  • Assists with continuous systems design improvements on production machines.
  • Performs hands-on testing of designed apparatus to mitigate high technical risks (proof of principle and technical studies).

  • Provide engineering support for problem solving, material and process investigations, and product development activities within an integrated systems for managing industrial processes

  • Revise and update production documents, procedures and drawings

  • Deliver for timely/rapid turnaround time for technical requests, and provide support for equipment maintenance and adherence to H&S and Quality standards

  • Prepares, or provides input to specifications, test plans and procedures, acceptance test plans

  • Follow required federal/provincial regulations, codes and safety practices.
