ReVital Polymers Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its Sarnia, Ontario facility. Sarnia is a family friendly city at the base of Lake Huron, with all season activities including miles of white sandy beaches, easy accessibility to major league sports teams, recreational and cultural events. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be working alongside the management team with a focus on directing and co-ordinating engineering consultants, project management, and related budget portfolios. The positon requires hands-on cross-disciplinary exposure to civil and electrical engineering. Using your well-developed abilities related to mechanical design, manufacturing processes, troubleshooting, process improvements and project management, the successful candidate will take on a leadership role to ensure that idea conceptualizations are successfully implemented on the shop floor with proven, effective and quantifiable results.

Job Details:


 

The position requires a sound comprehensive knowledge of project management, mechanical design, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, computer model work, and reading of drawings. The successful candidate will direct the development of process, workflow and equipment design, including the writing of SOP’s, work instructions and various other related operational procedures. You will be required to negotiate and communicate project details to various interested internal and external parties using an analytical and creative approach to solving shop floor problems.

 

 

 

Qualifications:


 

The applicant must have excellent communication skills and be proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project), AutoCAD and Adobe. Experience with Solid Works 2017 will be considered an asset. In addition, the positon requires hands-on working knowledge of federal/provincial environmental regulations for Industrial establishments

 

 

 

Required Skills and Expertise:


 

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • A minimum of 5+ Years of related work experience

  • Electrical engineering experience would be considered a significant asset.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical principles & strong mechanical aptitude

  • Strong presentation, communication and listening skills

  • Experienced in AutoCad

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft applications

  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines consistently

  • Familiarity with metal fabrication

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, troubleshoot, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.

  • Using your insight and judgement of well researched engineering theory you will present and communicate workable recommendations to senior management.

  • Monitoring and auditing project results and output with a focus on continuous improvement and shop floor efficiencies.

  • Focus on increasing production efficiency and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining exceptional quality standards.

  • Direct Engineering Technologists who are working on technical and drafting assignments.

  • Collect, read, interpret, and use related reference documents and drawings prepared by other disciplines, vendors, or outside sources

  • Ensure compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, construction economy, and operating convenience

  • Estimation of project costs and schedules

  • Prepare clear, complete and accurate assembly and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes in close collaboration with the engineering and management teams.

  • Provide complete detailed drawings for review by the management team

  • Process engineering change notices (ECN's) as required.

  • CAD drafting will be performed in a manner which follows accepted engineering practices and standards, as well as company standards and formats.

  • Communicate with manufacturing personnel / suppliers to resolve drafting errors, insufficient information on drawings and other drafting related issues.

 

  • Routine performance of physical site reviews to determine work progress and quality
  • Troubleshooting problems in existing systems and work with the Maintenance team to rectify problems.
  • Interact with core discipline teams (structural, electrical, controls, process), as well as internal and external clients to coordinate and achieve project objectives in a timely manner.
