Our capabilities include 3D process design & simulation, 3D ergonomics analysis, fixture design, off-line programming, discrete event simulation, and the continuous improvement of existing assembly applications.
The Design Simulation Engineer develops design solutions based on expected performance, manufacturability, assembly and serviceability. Communicates with external suppliers to give direction on tool design intent and drawing package deliverables as per customer specifications. Creates detailed robot simulations to OLP level and prepares supporting documentation.
*Review assembly process documents to understand manufacturing requirements *Create clamping plans using product math data and GDnT *Leads and gives direction on tooling fixture design intent and concepts *Create robotic simulation studies using Tecnomatix software *Ensure robotic layout is collision free, safeties are considered, and meets customer standards *Verify machine times, transfer times, system cycle time and robot interference zones *Create supporting documentation for controls line ups, weld engineering and systems layout *Review mechanical manufacturing detail and assembly drawings for release accuracy and completeness including BOM's *Provide feedback and improvements of standard manufacturing cells, processes and concepts for assembly system including Logistics and Quality
Knowledge and Education
*Post-Secondary education e.g. technical school, college, university or special studies *Advanced GDnT knowledge and interpretation *Proficiency in NX, Catia, ACAD, MS Office is required *Excellent understanding of 3D CAD design *Experience with 3D Process Software an asset (Tecnomatix, Delmia, RobCAD) *Ability to understand process engineering an asset *Ability to understand and apply industrial safety standards: CSAZ432(safeguarding of machinery) and CSAZ434 (industrial robots)
*Min. (5) years' work experience in automotive assembly and SPOT/GMAW welding *Chassis and Body-In-White Welding and fixture design experience
