Job Description

Water Security Agency (WSA) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic leader for our Hydrology & Groundwater Services group. This group is vital in helping WSA achieve its vision to support economic growth, quality of life and environmental well-being for the people of Saskatchewan. An opportunity exists at this time and with this role to create the vision and methods for water forecasting in Saskatchewan that will persist into the future. The position encompasses a large scope of responsibilities including overseeing the operation and maintenance of WSA’s hydrometric network and database, forecasting stream flows and river and lake stages, operation planning for major reservoirs and provincial water systems, operation and maintenance of the provincial observation well network, development of aquifer management plans, providing recommendations on the issuance of allocations and associated conditions, and provision of professional engineering and geoscience services in the areas of hydrology, watershed modelling, hydraulics, and hydrogeology.

You will provide vision and leadership to branch employees and work among a diverse and passionate team of professionals, both internal and external to WSA, in the fields of engineering, water quality, ecology, law, sociology, public policy, local governments that are leading this exciting challenge in our province.

The successful candidate must maintain a P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS), should possess a degree in Engineering or related discipline preferably with a Masters degree in Hydrology or Hydrogeology; and 12 years of progressively more responsible directly related experience in hydrologic and watershed analysis, assessment of river, lake and reservoir hydraulics, flood forecasting and structure operations and groundwater management.
