UVic’s Faculty of Engineering is an exciting place to be. The Faculty is home to approximately 2,500 undergraduate, 550 graduate students and 94 faculty members including 10 Canada Research Chairs and an NSERC Environmental Design Chair. Comprised of 4 departments – Computer Science; Civil Engineering; Electrical and Computer Engineering; and Mechanical Engineering – the Faculty of Engineering is nationally and internationally recognized for high quality teaching and research and for the national and international co-op opportunities provided to its students.  

Reporting to the Vice-President Academic and Provost, the Dean is responsible for providing strategic and visionary leadership and administrative oversight of the Faculty of Engineering. This is a tremendous opportunity for an inspiring and effective academic administrator to provide dynamic leadership during a period of significant program, research and enrolment growth and to lead the Faculty in its first major capital campaign. UVic is seeking an excellent communicator with a commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research and the success of all students, faculty and staff. The Dean will facilitate and enhance the Faculty through an open and collegial style, have outstanding interpersonal skills that are oriented towards community building and consultation, and bring a creative approach to problem solving. Experience building relationships with a range of external partners and an interest or experience in fundraising are critical for success.
