Civil - Sustainable Transportation Systems Engineering and Planning  (Job Opening ID #28329)

The desired area of research expertise is for transportation systems engineering and planning. This includes transportation and land use interactions, travel behaviour and forecasting, transportation demand management, modelling of multimodal transportation systems, microsimulation modelling and visualization techniques. Expertise in the applications of these areas in small and rural communities will be an asset.

The successful candidate will have conducted innovative and industry-collaborative research focused on, but are not limited to the following areas of interest: smart cities, public transit, freight transportation and logistics, railway transportation, transportation economics, and disaster response and recovery. The successful candidate will be expected to integrate with other engineering disciplines such as construction, energy, sustainability, and risk and resiliency.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated research excellence, exceptional communication skills, and effective teaching. Experience with undergraduate and graduate student supervision is desirable. The successful candidate would be expected to participate in departmental service and activities, with a broad network of engineers in academic and industry settings. The successful candidates in collaboration with existing faculty members will foster and promote entrepreneurial aspiration of the students and the school-at-large. Evidence of establishing international collaboration would be an asset.
