In this role, you will use your technical expertise to assist the Operations Manager with the day to day administration and delivery of the district's highway maintenance program and to provide support for highway maintenance contracts, roadside development, and service agreements. You will provide leadership and expertise to ensure that the programs and projects are delivered within the scope, cost, time and quality specified in the program while ensuring the safety of the travelling public. You will also assist with dealing with the general public, municipal authorities and other stakeholders.

 

In addition to your technical expertise in roadway operations engineering, in this role you will draw on your excellent leadership and relationship skills to work cooperatively with staff, contractors, and other government and private agencies. As the ideal candidate, you will also possess the ability to provide creative and innovative solutions to complex maintenance and construction problems, solid communication skills, and the ability to set priorities and schedules to balance multiple projects on an ongoing basis.

Salary: $3,007.16 - $4,163.64 bi weekly ($78,487 - $108,671 annually). Closing Date: December 11, 2017. Job ID #1045906

 

Qualifications: An degree in Engineering or Applied Science is required (a Civil Engineering degree preferred), plus 5 years of related highway operations experience and eligibility for membership in APEGA. Experience in highway maintenance, construction/design and roadside development is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written. Experience dealing with contractors, contract administration and budget administration would be an asset.
