Working under the general direction of the Director of Technical Services, you will develop, implement and manage departmental energy programs and activities to ensure energy efficiency is maintained and/or improved in the Government of Nunavut (GN) facilities. This mandate has significant influence on the overall direction of the Nunavut Energy Management Program and all related projects and programs.

As Program Manager, Energy Initiatives, you will work closely with Senior Technical Officers to implement and enhance energy-efficient activities in planning, designing, building, maintaining and operating government facilities. You will also develop and coordinate energy awareness programs for GN employees, building maintainers, students of schools in Nunavut and the general public, to raise energy awareness with the goal of reducing the consumption of energy in Nunavut. Furthermore, you will be expected to implement and monitor programs to track utility consumption in government facilities, establish baseline usage, and develop GN energy guidelines as well as standards and criteria for future design and/or construction.

Your profile as a qualified Program Manager, Energy Initiatives will include the following highlights:

  • Expert knowledge of technical principles and practices (i.e. Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Green Globe, BOMA, etc.), and the ability to apply this knowledge to provide advice and direction to implement energy consumption initiatives and programs.
  • Knowledge of the National Building Codes as well as life cycle renewal budgeting and practices.
  • A degree in Energy Management, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering plus three (3) years of relevant experience; OR a diploma in Energy Management, Architectural, Energy, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology plus four (4) years of relevant experience; OR an Energy Management Advanced Certificate plus five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.‎‎

ASSETS:

  • The ability to speak Inuktitut.
  • A diploma in Business Administration.
  • Knowledge in Asset Planner, iAuditors, MS Project and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in Cold Regions Engineering and arctic construction.
  • Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.

Compensation & benefits: This position is included in the Nunavut Employees Union and offers a starting salary of $99,743 per annum (for 37.5 hours/week), plus a Northern Allowance of $15,016 per annum. Note: Subsidized staff housing is available.
