Construction Project Manager – Execution, Calgary, AB and Toronto, ON

Imperial is seeking Project Engineers to provide project management leadership to a team of construction supervisors and contractors at fuel distribution and/or pipeline facilities within our Canada Fuels Operations (CFO) Engineering, Maintenance and Projects (EMP) group. As a Project Manager – Execution, you will be fully accountable to flawlessly deliver all aspects of safety, cost, schedule and quality on assigned projects in accordance with the ExxonMobil Capital Project System (EMCAPS), from receipt of design specifications through equipment turnover, commissioning and startup. You will manage all on-site contractor activities, monitor their performance, and manage all aspects of project execution to safely deliver all projects on or ahead of schedule within budgets.

 

The successful applicant will possess a combination of the following:

  • Proficiency in the storage tank construction, cleaning, inspection, and maintenance would be an asset

  • Minimum 5 years of practical field construction oversight experience, including direct interaction with contractors and safety representatives

  • Minimum 10 years of related project management experience, preferably in fuel distribution or refineries

  • Professional engineering degree

  • Multi-disciplined technical skills to oversee a broad range of construction trade activities – practical construction experience with petroleum terminals and/or pipelines is preferred

  • Ability and willingness to travel across Canada during the field execution activities

  • Strong safety mindset that embraces a strong Behaviour Based Safety culture – applicant must have practical experience with BBS/LPS program

  • Robust Leadership skills to manage teams and proactively address issues to timely resolution

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

  • Strong communication, coaching and interpersonal skills

  • Strong planning, project controls, project management, organizational, and decision making skills – past experience with EMCAPS is preferred

  • Proven ability to provide work direction to and obtain desired results from Contractors

  • Strong computer skills, including: Microsoft Project, SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook

  • Professional Project Management certification would be an asset

  • Proficiency in the French language would be an asset
