WSA owns and operates 69 dams in the province, ranging in size from large, like Gardiner Dam that forms Lake Diefenbaker, to small earth dams and in-stream weirs. These dams provide water supplies and recreation and also mitigate the effects of flooding for the people of Saskatchewan. In this position, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise to clients and staff and to manage the Operations & Maintenance function within the Engineering Services work unit, comprised of a group of technologists, technicians and other support staff who are responsible for inspecting, assessing, operating and maintaining WSA’s water resource development and management infrastructure.
In this leadership role, you will require broad engineering knowledge, thorough technical, administrative and supervisory expertise to ensure program objectives are met recognizing availability of resources, budget limitations and established priorities. You will be permitted wide discretion in the undertaking of work requiring a high degree of accountability for quality and accuracy of work, therefore organization, planning and control of unit resources are of significant importance.
You will work among a diverse and passionate team of professionals, both internal and external to WSA, in the fields of engineering, engineering technology, water quality, ecology, law, sociology, public policy, and local governments that are leading this exciting challenge in our province.
The successful candidate shall possess a degree in degree in Civil Engineering or a similar engineering discipline, a licence to practice professional engineering from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and 10 years of progressively more responsible directly related experience; or a graduate degree in Civil Engineering or a similar engineering discipline, a licence to practice professional Geoscience from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and 8 years of progressively more responsible directly related experience.
