Position Title:  Maintenance and Reliability Manager (Mechanical Engineer)

Work Location:  Slave Lake (camp accommodations provided)

Positions reporting to this role:  Capital Projects Manager

Work Rotation (if applicable):    5 Days per week

Work Days / Hours:  40 hours per week

Purpose of Role:  The Maintenance and Reliability manager is responsible for leadership of the maintenance function at the Slave Lake facility. This individual will be significantly involved in developing, implementing and leading preventative and mechanical reliability strategies. Day to day backup to the Operations Manager and Capital Project Manager.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision and leadership of all plant maintenance employees and contractors;
  • Supervision of trade skills certification and compliance programs, welding QA/QC;
  • Safety and environmental leadership within the maintenance function;
  • Develop and implement industry best practices, plant health monitoring, and maintenance KPI’s;
  • Guidance and input to capital projects and process design plans;
  • Interact with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders on a technical level;
  • Develop documentation, equipment history, spare parts strategy, and predictive/preventative maintenance programs;
  • Provide project scoping input to ensure estimate accuracy and appropriate materials and methods are utilized;
  • Support and monitor mechanical integrity activities such as failure analysis of plant equipment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

  • A professional designated Mechanical Engineer or related background with at least 10+ years’ experience in a chemical continuous process operation;
  • Relevant experience in solids handling considered an asset;
  • Experience in a well-structured environment with good system and procedures, and the ability to develop such structures within the Tiger organization;
  • Experience in leading, supervising, directing, and managing people in cross functional organizations and project teams;
  • Experience with environmental aspects of industrial plant operation, treatment and disposal;
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational skills; 
  • Strong team player with other technical and non-technical individuals;
  • Problem solving and analytical abilities with strong emphasis on quality;

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK CONDITIONS

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Work from height.
  • Climbing, crouching, stooping, and working in awkward positions required.

Work Conditions:

  • Industrial plant setting.
  • Working inside and outside in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to noisy conditions.
  • At times may be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.
