Water Security Agency (WSA) is a unique organization in Canada - bringing together all of government's core water management responsibilities in one place. We manage the province's water supply, regulate drainage, own and operate 49 dams and related canals, write water policy and law, build needed scientific knowledge, assess water quality, assess ecological health, develop and deliver water programs, manage interjurisdictional water agreements, protect water quality, ensure safe drinking water and treatment of wastewater, reduce flood and drought damage, protect aquatic habitat and provide information about water.

The Water Security Agency was formed to lead implementation of the 25 Year Saskatchewan Water Security Plan. The plan will ensure the sustainability and quality of Saskatchewan’s surface and ground water supplies while protecting drinking water supplies from the source to the tap.

Job Description

Our Regional Services team provides front-line service to customers who range from famers and homeowners, to rural municipality administrators and councillors, people who work with other government agencies, watershed associations, irrigation districts, and engineering consultants.  We are searching for an enthusiastic individual to join a team of technical and professional staff performing this important work. 

As the leader of the east central team some of the duties you will be responsible for are to manage the regulatory provisions of The Water Security Agency Act, which requires the issuance of decisions and orders on water disputes (formal complaints) and the issuance of water rights and approval of water works.  You will oversee the region’s issues management and water resource and environmental management responsibilities and activities ensuring general correspondence is prepared and responses to Minister and client inquiries are promptly handled.  You will participate in the resolution and reconciliation of regional water concerns of various government organizations, municipal governments, private sector agencies, special interest groups and individuals and recommend and/or approve water resource development project approvals.

You will work among a diverse and passionate team of professionals, both internal and external to WSA, in the fields of engineering, water quality, ecology, law, sociology, public policy, local governments that are leading this exciting challenge in our province.

The successful candidate should possess a degree in Engineering with designation as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan and 8 years of progressively more responsible directly related experience; or Masters Degree in Environmental Science or similar discipline and 8 years of progressively more responsible directly related experience.
