We are currently recruiting for a Geotechnical Lab Technician to work with the Office of the Dean in the Lassonde School of Engineering for this exciting opportunity.
Do you have experience in conducting all routine and specialized geotechnical tests? Do you possess experience with grain-size distribution, Atterberg limits, other soil index tests, Proctor compaction test, hydraulic conductivity tests, unconfined compression test? Do you possess experience working with manual as well as power tools? Are you familiar with unsaturated soils laboratory and field testing methods? Do you possess experience in commissioning and operations of geotechnical, and hydrogeological instruments? If so, keep reading!
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting assigned geotechnical laboratories for graduate, undergraduate students and research personnel in the Civil Engineering Department. This includes assisting in preparing and/or procuring specimens (e.g. soils, rocks, asphalt and other geomaterials) and/or creating experimental setups to support student experiments/projects.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess:
University degree in Engineering or equivalent (a Civil Engineering Technologist (CET) Diploma or similar and at least one year of recent related experience in addition to the minimum years of experience). The successful incumbent will also possess 3 years of related experience as a technologist and/or laboratory technologist preferably in the educational sector. Experience working with manual and power tools would be an asset.
