 Structural Engineering Position

 The Canadian Wood Council, the national association representing Canadian manufacturers of wood products used in construction is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to advance the use of wood products as state-of-the-art building materials.

 The candidate will be responsible for strategic building code and standards initiatives; applied engineering problem-solving; developing new design tools and publications; and delivery of end products through seminars and media to targeted audiences including engineers, architects, building officials and builders.

 The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate with a graduate level degree(s) in Civil (Structural) Engineering, eligible for professional registration, having an excellent understanding of structural analysis and design with a good knowledge of wood as a structural material. Professional engineering experience is an asset.

 Consideration will also be given to candidates with an undergraduate Civil (Structural) Engineering degree or a Wood Science degree having a solid understanding of wood design and appropriate structural engineering experience.

 In addition, the candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in an English and French environment. An understanding of wood products and the wood products industry is desirable.  Ability to travel within North America will be required.

 The position is based in Ottawa.
