Dean, Engineering Technology

Reporting to the VP Academic, the Dean, Engineering Technology is a member of the College’s Senior Leadership Team and Academic Management Team. The Dean will provide effective academic leadership and administrative management to the faculty and staff in a variety of program areas including, but not limited to: architectural, civil, chemical, computer systems, electrical, energy systems, environmental, mechanical and transportation engineering technologies. Additionally, the Dean will provide leadership and model collaboration in the joint degree program that offers learners both a Bachelor of Technology degree and a college diploma in four program streams: civil, software, energy and manufacturing engineering. The Dean will guide the Schools and Faculty to foster academic excellence, help define Mohawk’s innovative culture, and focus on success for students and community partnerships by celebrating inclusiveness, recognizing individual talents and encouraging collaboration; while promoting a sustainable environment across the College. The Dean will contribute to academic well-being and growth in alignment with Mohawk’s Strategic and Academic Plans, and will establish strong, collaborative networks and strategic alliances to develop and promote community initiatives and partnerships through program/service advisory committees, partnership agreements, memoranda of understanding, articulations and transfer agreements, and memberships in professional, community, academic and business organizations. The Dean will also be responsible for the planning, development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing review of all Engineering Technology programs to ensure quality, relevance and responsiveness, as well as conforming to external accreditation and licensing requirements, and opportunities for innovative pathways from college-entry to degree completion.

 

Candidates for this role should possess relevant academic and professional qualifications (i.e., a minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field; a P.Eng. designation would be considered an asset) along with several years of proven leadership and management experience (preferably from a complex, post-secondary education environment). The Dean will bring an outstanding record of scholarship, and extensive experience managing multi-site, community-based educational programs. The Dean will bring a wide range of experience in teaching and learning, combined with strong managerial expertise and a collaborative leadership approach. Candidates should have a personal record of success in liaising with and attracting collaborative partners in the community and industry, to develop, nurture and support progressive, innovative programming and delivery methodologies for Mohawk’s students and the achievement of the College’s strategic directions into the future.
