Mechanical Engineering: Aerospace (Job Opening ID #25842)
The desired area of research and expertise relate to aerospace engineering. British Columbia has a growing aerospace industry, employing approximately 10,000 people with annual revenues of more than $2.8 billion. Candidates with research expertise in aerospace engineering related fields who can establish cutting-edge research programs that advance BC’s aerospace industry are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following fields:
i) Aero-thermodynamics, propulsion, and flight mechanics,
ii) Aerospace structures, aero-elasticity, dynamics, performance and systems design,
iii) Advanced manufacturing relevant to the aerospace industry.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated research excellence, exceptional communication skills, and effective teaching. Experience with undergraduate and graduate student supervision is desirable. The successful candidate would be expected to participate in departmental service and activities, collaborate with a broad network of engineers in academic and industry settings, and may be assigned to teach courses during the summer. The successful candidates in collaboration with existing faculty members will foster and promote entrepreneurial aspiration of the students and the school-at-large. Evidence to establish international collaboration with global aerospace and aircraft partners would be an asset.
