Manager of Sustainability, Energy and Environmental Planning

Join the leadership team that’s responsible for Energy Conversation Measures and Greenhouse Gas reduction programs at North Vancouver School District (NVSD).

As Manager of Sustainability, Energy and Environmental Planning, you will be responsible for fulfilling NVSD’s sustainability strategy and environmental initiatives pertaining to workplace conservation, awareness, stakeholder engagement, and resilience adaption planning. Furthermore, you will assess and update the district's Strategic Energy Management Plan ensuring that it is meeting benchmark indicators and accomplishing its goals.

The aim of your portfolio is to reduce the district's greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy efficiency, improve waste management practices, and create a culture of conversation where energy efficiency is regular business practice.

As a part of the Facilities Maintenance and Capital Planning department, you will work closely with the Director and Manager to lead activities supported through the BC Hydro Energy Management program.  Overall, you will be responsible for ensuring that NVSD's programs and initiatives are in place to support the continuous improvement within all of NVSD's properties.

In addition to a bachelor's degree/diploma in building sciences or a related field, you possess a sustainable Energy Management Advanced Certificate (SEMAC), or accreditation as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). Your qualifications may also include LEED AP or Green Associated accreditation, knowledge of HVAC and BMS systems, and knowledge of energy management and carbon enterprise reporting systems.

What will make you successful in this role is your ability to effectively lead the implementation of energy efficiency projects and initiatives, and your ability to change practices and cultural attitudes regarding energy management and conservation.
